Island Cops
Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, and forming a part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony, Tuvula became a separate British Colony in 1975 – it consists of nine coral atolls in the South-West Pacific, policed by the Royal Ellice Constabulary. Under the Command of an expatriate ‘Officer in Charge’ and five female personnel and four males – probably the highest proportion of policewomen to policemen in the World.
