It was the annual Midsumma Festival.nA wild celebration of Lesbianism in Melbourne.nAnd once again, the Policewomen of the ‘Force Support Group’ had been called in – not that there was really any trouble. Chief Commissioner Sonia Kensington had given‘The Midsumma’ carte blanche – the somewhat notorious ‘Lesbian Festival’ held Summer, in ‘The Barrington’ Gardens, adjacent to the ‘Red Light’ District. nIt drew in Melbourne’s ‘Lesbian Mafia’ – Businesswomen, Nurses, Students, Prostitutes, Servicewomen, Stewardesses, Lawyers, ‘Strippers’ and both Professionals and wealthy Socialites from Toorak and South Yarra. It was a chance to enjoy themselves without reservation, despite Lesbianism still being ostensibly illegal and taboo. nAnd, it was also quite common for the Policewomen working ‘The Midsumma’ Festival to be offered ‘cunt’ more often than not…….nBrandi-Lee had only graduated from the Glen Waverley ‘Police Training Academy’ some eight weeks earlier – the twenty-seven year old Divorcee having joined the Victoria Police on a whim.
