Lesbianism was still illegal. Taboo. Dimmatina’s Café and ‘The Carlisle’ Hotel – ‘The Tunnel’ Nightclub and ‘The Steamworks’ Sauna too, but for many of the older lesbian and bi-sexual ‘Underworlds’ in the City, I was ‘The Wild Cherries’ Club where nit was happening, despite the best efforts of the Vice Squad and Moral Majority……..nn
